mendicant
noun. ˈmen-di-kənt
1. a pauper who has taken a vow of poverty
2. a player-created, commons-only MTGO format
For the foreseeable future, Mendicant will share an explicit ban list with the Pauper format. This is to ensure "backward compatibility" with Pauper. In other words, every Mendicant-legal deck is also a Pauper-legal deck, though the reverse is not true.
Cards that would be banned by the definition of the Mendicant format even if unbanned in Pauper are denoted with an asterisk.
